Hey there!
Well first off you are probably wondering what my Subject is
all about. But first I am going to say that I had a lovely Mother’s day
yesterday! The talks in church were pretty great and very powerful, the men
speaking did a wonderful job for attributing to everyone in their own
circumstances! We hear a lot from the talk given by Elder Jeffery R Holland,
"Behold thy Mother," go check it out if it is not ringing any bells
to you, because it is pretty amazing. We also we able to get a non-member to
church yesterday. She is not an investigator because she is only 7 years old
and her mom was not able to make it because she was up all night with her other
kid, who is teething. Nonetheless this 7-year-old is one of the most in tune
with the spirit kids I have ever met. While partaking of the sacrament, I
always say a little prayer and when she watched me fold my arms she did as well
and it looked like she was praying and after all the boys sat down from passing
the sacrament she prayed again. She loved church so much and cannot wait for us
to come over tonight for another Family Home Evening. Whenever we go over there
and the house is a little contentious, she always goes and turns off the TV and
she asks her mom if she can watch Mormon Channel. There really is a lot you can
learn from a little kid! Seriously though!
This past week a member from my first area that had moved
while I was there, has family that lives in my current area, her parents to be
exact and she was coming down to the area and so she and her family took us out
to eat Tuesday and it was crazy to see how big her kids had gotten in just a
year. Yes that was over a year ago that I had seen them last and I just can’t
believe how fast time flies. I really have recognized as I get further and
further into my mission how important it is to not take our time for granted
and how we really need to make the most of our time, for me especially now when
I am on the Lord's errand but in all honesty we only have a short time here on
this earth in comparison to the rest of eternity, so what are you doing with
your time here on Earth?
Also My companion and I had signed up a few months ago to do
a family history booth at Wal-Mart and were able to do it yesterday and it was
a pretty cool experience. It went pretty well!:) We were able to talk to a lot
of people about the importance of family history. An experience that we had
that I learn a lot from came from someone that recognized our tags. This guy
said that he had read the Book of Mormon and said there were too many
difference between "our book" and the Bible. So I asked him what one
of the biggest differences is. He said one book said that we have to work for
our salvation and one says it is free. I was so sad to hear that. WE ARE saved
by the grace of Christ and everything has been paid for, no matter what we do
we will be resurrected but whether we live with Heavenly Father and Christ and
if we feel comfortable in their presence with the decisions that we made is the
difference. The Bible and the Book of Mormon are both the word of God and
support one another, I will never question that.
Now back to the title of this letter, so our president gave
us a talk to read and I loved it, it was in preparation for out next zone
conference but I thought I would share it with you. In the next chance you get
look up the talk called "Beware of Pride" by Ezra Taft Benson, givin
in 1989 and make some goals so that you can change to be more like Christ and
be less prideful. I hope you all are doing well and that you have a great week!
Love you all and keep up the great work!
Love Sister Mauck
