I Love the Gospel

2.22.16

Hey there!

Hope you all are doing well! We had a pretty good week here. So first I wanted to tell you about this really cool friend we started teaching this past week. A few weeks ago we knock on this door and he said that Fridays were usually better for him so we came back later that week and he was not home and we were kind of sad but we just went along with our day. This past Friday we had a lot of our lessons and plans fall through so we decided we would go and try him again, he was home but no one else was so we asked if we could come back the next day and bring a friend with us. And we did exactly that. We brought a member with us and invited him to church and he said he would come. Then Sunday comes and we are waiting by the door and you probably see lots of missionaries doing and then we had to go and talk to some people which we did. And then went back to the door to see the member who came with us waiting at the door with us. She said, "My husband said 9 out of 10 times they do not actually come." We probably had pretty sad looking faces after she said that and then less than a minute later just a minute or 2 before the appointed hour to start he came!! It was a perfect sacrament for him to come too, all about faith and then the last hour was about searching for answers through our Heavenly Father. We now have another lesson with him tonight too. He is so excited to learn more and these are the times in missionary work that we live for, when people are excited to learn about Jesus Christ! And about how they can strengthen their faith in him and become better.

Hope you all are doing wonderful! We had a Zone conference this past week and it was pretty great. We learned lots of different ways as a mission we can do better in our finding efforts especially finding families that we can teach to prepare to be sealed for time and all eternity.

Also wanted to give a shout out to Sister Dew! Just a few more weeks til she enters the MTC!:) Pretty exciting! It is kind of weird to think about the MTC that feels like it was just yesterday but it also feels like it was forever ago. Time is such a weird thing when you are on a mission.

I love this gospel and the blessings that are associated with it! I know that Jesus Christ is our Savior and that because of Him and His Atonement we can be forgiven, we can be made Whole, we can get through anything that our Heavenly Father puts before us and we can get back home! I know that the gospel is a gift and we cannot take it for granted! As we experience blessings it brings we cannot help but have a desire to share it! Keep up the great work! I love you all!

More People to Teach

2.15.16

Hey there y'all!

We had pretty good week this last week. We had a second week in a row where we had 4 new investigators to teach the gospel too! Tuesday we got a media referral for someone who had requested a Book of Mormon which does not happen very often out here, usually it is for a bible if we even get one. Anyways it was really cool because they had gone to the church here in Teays Valley before and they really liked it but no missionaries ever taught them and life got busy and they quit coming but I guess that was years and years ago. But she also said that missionaries had never ran into them before but she was really excited to learn more!:) We were also talking to her about her family history and she said that she had her family history all the way back to the 1000 and her husbands was stuck in the 1700, I thought that was pretty good to have done that much without the church site! They are so ready to receive the gospel though!:)

Also we got to witness a baptism this week, it was a little 8 year old of a family who feeds us once a week, it was a really sweet little baptism. Anyways his mom asked me to sing at it and I sang "Lord, I would Follow Thee." I was super nervous because I have not sung in front of a big crowd in a while by myself and I had never done it without accompaniment but it was not too bad, my voice was shaky at the beginning, I love that hymn though.

I hope you all are doing well! I miss and love you and hope all is well!

The Gift of Tongues is Real

2.8.16

Hey There!

I hope you all are doing well and staying warm. The weather here has reminded me a lot of home recently and is all over the place. We got those how every many inches of snow and then all the sudden it was 50 degrees a few days later it was raining and then it was almost 60 and now this week it is supposed to snow. Crazy weather, nonetheless the work of the Lord goes on:)

So I wanted to tell you of the really cool experience we had last week with one of our friends. So we tracted into this guy and he said to come back on Tuesday so we came and had a member with us so we could go in and we taught him one week about the book of Mormon and then next week the restoration. Oh yeah and one thing I forgot to mention is that his first language is Spanish. I took Spanish a little in high school but my first two years. But this week we were able to take an RM with us who went to a Spanish speaking country on his mission and it was really cool because even though I did not know the language as I listened and prayed to understand what they were saying, I felt like for the first time I really did have the gift to interpret what they were saying and even though my companion and I were not really able to teach while he was answering questions in Spanish we were able to bare testimony at the end. The spirit was so strong and his face lit up as he started understanding better what we were there for and what the book of Mormon really was! A really cool experience:)

I hope you all are doing well and can’t wait to hear from you all:) Hope you have a wonderful Valentine’s Day next Sunday!
