5.2.16
Hey there!
I hope you all are doing well! We had a good week this week
and are hopeful for a few of the people that we are teaching. Sadly, we did not
have anyone come to church but hopefully for Mother's Day we can get a few
people to church!
One of the coolest experiences we had from last week
actually happened yesterday. We went to go and visit our friend who we tracted
into and she is kind of interested but always tells us that we need to go back
and see her. Anyways her neighbor was out and she was walking to her house and
we asked if there was anything that we could do for her and she said no. Little
info about her, we knocked into her a little while ago and she told us that she
was atheist. I do think that she remembered us and you will find out as the
story goes on. So we went to talk to our friend but she was super sick and told
us to come back when she was feeling better. We were walking away and the
neighbor said, "maybe you can help me with something.' Well we jumped on
that. She asked us if we could lift her garage open. So we tried and then it
wasn't working so we tried and it barely budged and then we asked her why she
wanted us to do that... She was locked out. So we went to the back door and
luckily the screen door was unlocked. Also this lady had keys but she had put
the sliding lock on and went out her garage door. So then we tried to open the
back door and it had the sliding lock chain on it too but my companion had a
brilliant idea to screw the thing out of the wall and so we ran over to her neighbor’s
house and she gave us a screw driver and then we got this lady into her house
and we did not have to break anything to do so. So then we invited her to learn
more about the gospel but did it in a way to figure out what she does for a
religious life. She said she was Methodist.... what? that is not atheist.
Anyways she said that all her neighbors were trying to get her back to church
and so we asked if we could come by and teach her and she told us to give her a
card and that she would check it all out, and said we could come back. It was
really cool to see how service really can soften people's hearts!
We have been working with this 19 year old less-active and
she has come to church a few times and she is really wanting to change her life
and surround herself with good people. She is still a little iffy about the
church and it being true because she is so hung up on the fact that gay people
cannot be baptized but she is starting to see the difference that church makes
in her life when she comes! It really is the coolest thing to see lives changed
though the gospel because it really can change your life and only for the
better if you are living it!:) Even if
it brings trials it really does bring joy in the end every time!!
I love this gospel and I Love My Savior Jesus Christ and the
perfect example he was to me! I hope that you all are striving to find ways
that your life can be blessed through living the gospel and understanding who
Jesus Christ is to YOU? I invite you to find how you can have a personal
relationship with Him! I love you all and hope all is well!
Love Sister Mauck
