Doctrine and Covenants 58:26-28

3.14.16

Hello there!

Hope you all are doing well! Everything is going well here. Last week was transfers and things changed a little here in Hurricane, WV. My companion left and the Sunday before I got a call from our Mission President asking if I would train again:) Actually a funny story goes along with that. So we were in a lesson and then went straight to another lesson and we had actually missed a call from him and listened to the voicemail when we got to the second lesson before we went inside.  I actually found out before we called him back that he was calling to ask me if I would train because he had called us earlier in the week and couldn't remember if he had ask me to train yet. So I called him back and told him that he had not asked me yet, but I said that I would gladly accept and he reminded me of the importance of a missionaries first companion and how important the beginning of a missionaries mission is, because it is you that helps them make or break the good habits of a missionary:) How grateful am I that not only my mission president but the Lord trust me with that responsibility. More grateful that I get to learn from her because new missionaries always have so many creative ideas of how to find people to share the gospel with!

This past week we had a relief society activity and 3 of our non member friends came, we were so excited to see them there. I also found out at that dinner that my last companion was a quarter back on a woman's football team for 2 years, how cool is that??

My new companion, both to me and to the mission, is Sister Tippetts, from the Salt Lake City area. She is very sweet and very excited about the work. We have had to do a lot of tracting since she has been here because all of our lesson have fell through but she is a good sport about it and hopefully we will have a couple of lessons tonight, with some people who are excited to hear about the gospel.

The scripture that was the subject is my ponderizing scripture for the week. This morning I was studying in preach my gospel about obedience under the commandment section of Chapter 3, and realized how important not only our obedience to God's commandments but our attitude about it too. If we are just going to keep the commandments because there is no other options and we have a bad attitude about it, that make us a "slothful and not a wise servant" but if we are "anxiously engaged" we will truly receive our reward which is living with Heavenly Father one day... having Eternal Life.

I hope you all are doing well and loving and learning the gospel. I am so excited for the Easter season and having even more of a reason to go around and share a message about Jesus Christ. I know that he does live today and only through him will we be able to "earn that reward" of eternal life. I am so grateful for him and for the opportunity I had in being born into this gospel. Have a great week y'all!

Love Sister Mauck
